Mount Vernon class testing in two weeks
Students should be working hard on their forms as they get ready to test in the next couple of weeks. Testing will cover forms, philosophy, sparring skill, self defense application and mental agility. Students should remember to bring their sparring gear including mouth pieces to class every week so that they won’t have to sit out of all the fun.
See you in class,

Congrats on Recent Testing
The Mount Vernon Kids class did a wonderful job on their recent testing on December 21st. All the students passed their test and did so with flying colors. We are very proud of the achievements of our students and wish them all well this coming year. Many of our students are making great strides toward their next full rank exam. I believe they will be successful in the coming exam in the February or March time frame.
Special Note:
The next Mount Vernon kids class will be held on January 7th at 10:00 Am followed by the adult class at 11:00 AM.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The ‘In Home’ Dojo Advantage

As you may already know, I have decided to move our school from the commercial location in Mount Vernon to my home at 412 Kennedy Drive, Mount Vernon.
Why?
There are many reasons why I decided to make this change. But I believe you know a few of them.
1. The economy – while we could easily stay in our location and ‘ride out the storm’, I believe the overhead of maintaining a building, utilities, rent could be allocated better. Imagine if you had to make two mortgage payments along with the utility bills. That is a lot to take on and a huge risk in today’s economy. So, instead we decided to save as much as we can and move back into our home. We believe we can still provide excellent instruction while keeping our costs down.
2. A change in Focus – I love teaching the martial arts. My biggest joy is seeing my students succeed. For the past seven years I have built the schools up and successfully ran them in a down economy. My hopes of course was to be able to teach full time. Many factors attributed to my final decision to move away from this goal. For one, in pursuit of this dream, I spent more and more time away from home. Being a father of four kids is tough, add a full time job and two businesses on top of that… I don’t know how I survived this long! So now my focus is on my family first and then teaching martial arts second. This has lead me to stop teaching certain classes and remove a lot of the busy-ness of running a school. Now it is a joy to teach, but at the same time I have more ‘family time’.
So…
Starting NEXT WEEK – classes will be held at my house located at 412 Kennedy Dr. Mount Vernon, IN 47620!
